Google Material Design

Google’s beautiful new visual design language called “Material” is a wonderful balance of graphic design and technology that I haven’t seen at this scale. From mobile to TV—and all the apps and services in-between—it’s an impressive feat for a major corporation. I’m looking forward to seeing this roll out.

With this new approach—a nice evolution of where they are now—Google will stir the pot in design and engineering circles around the globe. I’m sure we’ll continue to hear a lot about how they (and Apple and Microsoft) are being revolutionary in their approach to [flat] UI design. Let’s not forget that for screen or print, good graphic design is just that: good graphic design. It’s been around awhile! It’s shocking that the designers and engineers [or maybe CEO’s and VP’s?] of digital media took so long to realize it.
