It’s been really interesting and enjoyable to watch the adoption of the grid in designing for screen-based media. I think Jessica Helfand deserves credit for publishing some of the first critical thinking about this in 1997. Of course, the grid itself is nothing new, but there are many great examples of designers adopting the basic principals of modern design with new technolgoies—and pushing the boundaries.
